The Sri Lankan selectors have dropped Niroshan Dickwella from nidahas trophy the squad for the The 15-member squad that was announced on Wednesday (February 28) will be led by Dinesh Chandimal in Angelo Mathews’s absence with the returning Kusal Perera likely to take over the wicketkeeping duties from Dickwella.
Seamer Suranga Lakmal has been named as Chandimal’s deputy. Asitha Fernando, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Jeffrey Vandersay and Lahiru Kumara have also been excluded from the preliminary 20-man squad that was announced earlier.
Other significant changes include the return of Nuwan Pradeep, Dushmantha Chameera to bolster the pace attack. Allrounder Dhananjaya de Silva, whose last T20I appearance came in January 2017 against South Africa, has also been included.
